Welcome to Aquis Celenis
The favourable climatic conditions, its geographical situation and the hot water springs didn’t go unnoticed by the first settlers of Caldas de Reis.
The first known settlers were an indigenous tribe from a warlike culture, that the Romans named Cilenos. The Romans conquered these settlements and called the surrounding lands “Aquis Celenis” or “Aquae Celenae”, in allusion to the hot water springs and to the name given to the tribe.
Without any doubt, the variety albariño is the white “per excellence” of Spain. In a country where the tendency lies in the production of red grapes, the albariño variety gives a clear personality to the resulting wine.
